I’m a loyal audience of Desperate Housewives and a little bit disappoint for this season’s delay as one of the actress pregnant. Therefore I had to keep checking abc.com to get the update information for this drama then saw the trial of “UGLY BETTY”.
When I first saw pictures of Ugly Betty, I couldn’t believe my eyes because “ugly” was a proper word to describe the main character-Betty. Unfortunately, I was not located in America so unable watching that drama via the abc.com website.
Early of this month, Ugly Betty finally shows every Sunday night and I realised she is a true beauty! The story of this drama is talking about an average girl-Betty, her dream job is working for the magazine company. Due to her “normal outfit”, the chairman of that magazine company is willing to hire her as an assistant for his own son, a play boy editor and sleeps with all his assistants. Betty don’t have a beautiful outfit but she is always doing her best to keep this dream job; when this young editor found how much passion of this job she has and how much she helps him, finally he recognised her importance and beg her come back to work for him again.
Each episode, Betty has new challenge and problem to solve, her passions and loves of her family, her friends and her job will touch all hearts around her. This drama is more than just a comedy! It gives me more than I expected. Nowadays, Medias delivery so much wrong images about how to be a perfect girl! Girls may need to dress up the latest fashion, carry expensive bag, wear high hills and put make up to be a “real girl”. Girls need to diet in order to get a slim body, doing plastic sugary to get bigger breasts and charming bump; a perfect girl should always look like a star from Hollywood. Honestly, these starts need to keep their beauty to remain the income, they are not in reality! Then why should we all act like that? Pink has a song named “Stupid girl”, it express what I want to say and this drama supports my point. Beautiful outfits wont represent a true beauty, only the girl she loves her life is true gorgeous and charm!
